■ 37 genera of mosquitoes with 3200 pieces (species) are found in the world.
■ 14 genera and 255 species are found in India.
■ 58 species of Anophyllus are found in India. Out of which only 9 pieces spread malaria.
■ In 1897, a scientist named Ronald Ross from Andhra Pradesh proved that malaria is spread by mosquitoes.
■ In 1818, a scientist named Meigen identified it as Phyllis mosquito.
■ Mosquitoes live for more than 20 to 25 days. Life span is usually 3 to 4 weeks. (It may be lower due to ambient temperature)
■ Mosquitoes are found up to 3,530 meters above sea level.
■ Mosquitoes are found at depths of 92 to 1000 meters.
■ Mosquitoes can fly up to 1 to 3 km. But the ability of Aedes to fly is limited. Addis can fly up to 100 meters. Can fly up to more than 400 meters.
■ Mosquito thrives in temperatures between 28°C and 30°C.
■ For the growth of pora in water, the temperature of 22 ℃ to 28 ℃ is good.
■ A mosquito can lay 40 to 400 eggs at a time. But it depends on the quantity and temperature of water. But an average mosquito lays 100 to 150 eggs.
■ Once the mosquito has mated (mating), the mail mosquito dies. After mating once, the female mosquito does not need to mate again during its lifetime. It lays eggs every 3 days till it lives.
■ Mosquito lays eggs 2 days after feeding on blood.
■ After 2 days the eggs hatch into larvae.
■ Remains in the form of Pura for 2 to 3 days.
■ Metamorphoses into pupa after 3 days.
■ Lives in pupa form for 2 days. After that it becomes a mosquito and flies away.
■ It takes 7 to 10 days for a mosquito egg to develop into a mosquito.
■ Mosquitoes are carriers of malaria, dengue, chikungunya, yellow fever, Zika and West Nile virus.
■ Mosquitoes can also smell people's breath, which can smell human carbon dioxide from 75 feet away.
■ A mosquito can fly at a speed of 2 feet per second.
■ Only female mosquitoes drink blood. Male mosquitoes are herbivores, they drink plant juices, flower juices, and fruit juices.
■ A mosquito's wing flaps about 500 times in a second.
■ A mosquito can drink 3 times its weight in blood.
■ People of 0 blood group are bitten more by mosquitoes.
■ There are almost no mosquitoes in Ireland.
■ Black and blue colors are more attractive to mosquitoes.
■ Mosquitoes have many sets of eyes. Which is called compound eye.
■ Mosquitoes have two pairs of wings. The second pair of wings is called the halter. Which helps in keeping the mosquito in balance.
■ Mosquitoes have a total of 6 legs from the thorax (trunk) in 3 pairs.
■ The abdomen of a mosquito is made up of 10 segments.
■ The mosquito sucks blood through its proboscis organ.
【 Biting Behavior 】
■ Anthropophagic ( Athropophagic ) = Mosquitoes that bite humans are called athropophagic.
■ zoophagic / zoophilic = mosquitoes that bite animals are called zoophilic.
■ endophagic = Mosquitoes that bite indoors are called endophagic mosquitoes.
■ Exophagic = mosquitoes that bite outside the house are called exophagic mosquitoes.
【 Behavior of Rest 】
■ endo philic (indo philic) = mosquitoes resting inside the house are called endo philic.
■ Exo philic = A mosquito that rests outside the house is called exo philic.
( 1 ) Anopheles
● Wings have black dots.
● Makes an angle of 45° while resting on the wall.
● Produced in clear water.
● Anopheles eggs contain (float).
● Ano phyllis lays its eggs scattered. And floats on the surface of water due to float.
● Ano Phyllis floats parallel to the water.
● Spreads malaria.
● A female mosquito bites a human every third day because it is necessary for the development of her eggs. When a female Anopheles mosquito bites a malaria patient, it ingests the malaria parasite (gametocyte) along with the blood.
● It takes 10-14 days for the malaria parasite to develop in the mosquito's body.
● After this period the mosquito is capable of infecting a human whenever it bites a human to draw blood.
● Whenever an infectious mosquito bites a human, it injects the malaria parasite into the body of a healthy person along with the saliva.
● Symptoms of malaria occur within 7-12 days after a person is bitten by a mosquito infected with the malaria parasite.
(2) Culex mosquito :
● Pesky mosquitoes
● A mosquito humming near the ear
● Produced in wastewater.
● Wings do not have black spots.
● Sits with hump removed.
● Culex lays eggs together in rafts on the water surface.
● Culex spores are found hanging upside down in water.
● Spreads elephantiasis and brain fever.
(3) Aedes mosquito :
● A black and beautiful mosquito with white spots on its body
● Pure water is produced in containers.
● Bites during the day.
● Bites are more painful.
● Addis eggs stick to the walls of the container. Which looks like dirt.
● Aedes eggs can survive on the wall of a container for up to 8 months without water.
● Eggs of infected female Aedes are also infected.
● Addis is more sensitive in whole water. It immediately spirals down at the slightest movement of water or torches in the water.
● Spreads diseases caused by viruses. (Dengue and Chikungunya Yellow Fever)
